Researching the features of spacecraft

We used iPads to explore common features of spacecraft. We talked about what we had discovered and used our discussions to unfluence our own unique spacecraft designs. Next week we would like to begin making them so please continue to send in any plastic bottles, cardboard tubes, small boxes etc, every little helps….! Many children would like to use foil, so if you happen to have any left over turkey foil to donate, that also would be gratefully recieved! We are hoping to show our finished models in our class assembly on Wednesday 30th January, more details to follow.

Forest school learning

This afternoon we collected small, dry twigs to help light the fire and thought about how we can build the fire up by using increasingly larger pieces of wood once it has taken hold. We made herby flat breads to cook over the fire and they were delicious! Ask us about the unusual ingredient we used…

Our new student teacher

Miss Medcraff is working and teaching alongside Mrs Morris until Easter. She has been teaching in year 6 within one of our academy schools and is now really enjoying the challenges of teaching and learning with our younger children. Please feel free to introduce yourselves! 

Addition with numbers to one thousand 

We are learning how place value affects addition. We have been making numbers using dienes on a place value chart and adding practically before moving on to using a written method. We are beginning to understand the importance of lining up the digits in the correct place.
